When to Apply
Plan ahead. Applying for your education in the United States can take longer than you think. If you are planning on beginning in the fall term, keep the following dates in mind.
October
- If you can, try to visit campus. The best way to see if Northland is right for you is to visit. Come for an individual visit, or come to one of our scheduled Visit Days to meet other future students.
- Schedule and take TOEFL
December 1st
- Priority Deadline for fall applications. By applying early, you will be able to apply for programs like Superior Connections, and Growing Connections.
March
- Submit your Housing contract to the Office of Residence Life
May 1st
- Enrollment deposit is due to the Office of Admission
- You should have you declaration of finance sent to the Office of Admission so that we can send your I-20. Once you receive your I-20 you should make your appointment to meet with the US Embassy in your country to set up your interview to obtain a student visa.
Summer months
- Register for classes (information will come from Division of Student Life)
July 1st
- Finalize your plans for coming to the U.S., begin search for airline tickets into Duluth, MN (you may have to connect in Minneapolis).
August
- Notify the Office of Admission with at least 2 weeks advance notice if you need to be picked up at the Duluth Airport.
