Federal and State Grants
General Eligibility Requirements
To
receive financial aid from federal and state programs the student must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- Be registered with Selective Service if male, at least 18 years of age and born after December 31, 1959. (Register online at www.sss.gov).
- Demonstrate financial need if applying for need-based aid.
- Be working toward a degree or certificate at Northland College.
- Make satisfactory academic progress as defined by Northland's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (link)
- Not be in default on any loan or owe a refund on any grant made under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, at any institution.
Federal Grants
Federal PELL Grant - The Pell Grant is for students from low and middle income families who show financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) - available to undergraduates receiving PELL and demonstrating exceptional financial need who filed their FAFSA prior to May 1. http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/students/english/FSEOG.jsp?tab=funding

Grants
The Wisconsin Tuition
Grant (WTG) Program provides grant assistance to undergraduate, Wisconsin
residents enrolled at least half-time in degree or certificate programs at

Incentive Program Grant
The Talent Incentive Program (TIP) Grant
provides grant assistance to the most financially needy and educationally
disadvantaged Wisconsin resident students attending colleges and universities

Indian
Student Assistance Grant
Awards under this program are made to
Wisconsin residents who are at least 25% Native American and are undergraduate
or graduate students enrolled in degree or certificate programs at University
of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Technical College, independent colleges and

Wisconsin
Minority Retention Grants
Awards under this program are made to
Wisconsin resident minority undergraduates, excluding first year students,
enrolled at least half-time in independent, tribal, or Wisconsin Technical

Hearing and Visually Handicapped Student Grant
The Handicapped Student Grant Program was established to provide funding
for undergraduate Wisconsin residents, enrolled at in-state or eligible
out-of-state public or independent institutions who show financial need and

Academic Excellence Scholarship
Academic Excellence Scholarships are awarded to Wisconsin high school
seniors who have the highest grade point average in each public and private
