There aren't many places where the weather can change as quickly as along the shores of Lake Superior. They call it the lake effect and it means you might have winter snow fall on you while just a few miles away it is sunny and 15 degrees warmer. The impact of Lake Superior adds a fascinating aspect to predicting the weather, understanding global climate, and conducting in-depth research on climate change.

These conditions provide the perfect educational laboratory to study meteorology. Northland College is one of the few small private colleges to offer this major so you will learn from faculty who will get to know you and guide you in achieving your goals.
