Earn College Credit Through Pathfinders!

This summer you have the option to earn 1 Undergraduate Credit through Northland College in a course entitled Environmental Leadership!

Course Description:

In addition to attending the Pathfinders program,

1. A pre-and post- assessment would be administered to assess the students understanding of the basic principles of Sustainability.

2. Program staff would evaluate the student’s performance in the Pathfinder program activities.

3. The student will write an “Action Plan” for a proposed project in his/her community and the quality and feasibility of the plan will be evaluated by the program staff.

4. An interview with the parent of the student will be conducted after the program to assess attitudinal and behavioral changes that the parent feels may be attributed to the participation the Pathfinders program.

Instructor:

Steve Sandstrom would be the instructor for this course. He is the administrator of the Lake Superior Pathfinders Program and an employee at the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute. He has a B.A. degree in Biology and a teaching certification for 7-12 Life Science/Biology from the State of Wisconsin, and a Master of Arts degree in Environment and Community from Antioch University-Seattle.

Grading:

Grading will be on a Satisfactory (S) or Unsatisfactory (U) basis.
