"What I like most about Northland is the sense of community. Everyone is so friendly. Students, staff, and faculty including cafeteria cooks will know you by name. I can’t find that anywhere else.
We stick together during our tough times as an entire campus, yet we also support one another during the good times.""If I could say one thing to students thinking about applying to Northland it would be to ask a lot of questions. Gather all the necessary information you can and carefully check your application for errors.""The most unique thing about Northland is the faculty and staff, including the president of the college, who will bring their children to the cafeteria and eat lunch with the students instead of sitting off by themselves somewhere else. This gives students a unique perspective into the personality of their fellow professors that one cannot receive anywhere else!""I came to Northland from a small town. Coming from a small town I was attracted to small schools. Lisa Lucht, a former broadcast meteorologist for WBAY-TV 2 in Green Bay, told my mother and I about Northland College, so I decided to visit. In 2001 when I came to visit I met Meteorology Professor Robert “Doc” Wilson and was impressed by his unique perspective on finding jobs and “thinking outside of the box”. I say this because most people think forecasting is the only part of Meteorology when there is another whole plethora of jobs in the market, and he introduced these other areas. He also told me where I can look for jobs and internships, despite me only being a senior in high school. He is not only interested in preparing us for life in the job market, but outside the job market as well, and that means a lot. I came back in March of 2003 before transferring and had an even better visit the second time. The students were very respectful and interested who I was at the time. It made feel like I belong here."Jeff has transferred to Northland and has made the transition nicely. He currently is involved in the National Weather Association and currently holds many responsibilities including budgeting and finance for the group. Jeff is a meteorology major, and also is involved with Northland College radio.
