Means of Travel

There surely are a few traveling details you must work out before you embark on your journey. For instance, how do you plan to get all of your stuff here? Which plane or bus should you take to arrive in the right place at the right time? Here is some information that we hope will be useful to you.

The Gogebic County Airport
in Ironwood, Michigan is the closest public airport. The Gogebic County Airport is serviced by Midwest Airlines, with hubs in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Kansas City, Kansas.

The Duluth International Airport in Duluth, Minnesota is another nearby public airport. The Duluth Airport is serviced by Northwest Airlines, which flies between Duluth and Minneapolis, Detroit, and Chicago.

Let us Know

Since this is your first time at Northland College, the Admissions Staff will arrange for rides to campus from the Duluth Airport. Let Admissions know the day, time, and place of your arrival. You should also let them know your flight number, and the last major city your flight will leave from.

Special Deals

Keep your eyes open for special traveling deals to Northland's area. Buying your ticket early not only prevents the price from going up, but it also ensures that you have, at least, a reservation. If the prices should go down after you have bought your ticket, most airlines refund the extra money.

Transporting Your Belongings

Now that you have figured out how to get yourself to college, you need to start thinking about getting your belongings to Northland as well. An option for shipping packages is the United Parcel Service (UPS). This is the most popular way to ship. When you are shipping stereos, televisions, and computers, UPS asks that you use only the original boxes. UPS automatically insures the first $100 of your shipment. USPS, another shipping option, may be more expensive as you have to purchase insurance for your shipment. Once you've decided how to ship your packages, address your boxes to yourself, c/o Northland College, Ashland, WI 54806. Northland's post office will hold your packages until you arrive.

Don't Panic

Remember that every once in a while something can go wrong. Don't panic! If you need any help once you've left home (your luggage has been lost or some other catastrophe has befallen you) or you have a question regarding your arrival, please contact the Admissions Office at 715-682-1224.  We eagerly await your safe arrival!
