Transfer students under the age of 21, who have not yet reached junior standing, who are not married, do not have legal dependents, and who do not live with parents within 60 miles of campus are required to live on campus.
Northland has five residence halls. Most rooms are double occupancy with shared bathrooms and showers on each floor. The McLean Environmental Living & Learning Center also has some rooms with semiprivate baths. Fenenga, Mead, McMillan and the McLean Environmental Living & Learning Center are co-educational and Memorial houses women. Single rooms are sometimes available in the residence halls. Northland also offers townhouses, theme houses, and apartments in the Malcom and Wendy McLean Environmental Living & Learning Center. The group application process for the apartments and theme houses can limit these options for new students, but can become available during your second year.
Affordable housing is available in Ashland and nearby for students who plan ahead. Northland is located in a residential area. Many students live in houses or apartments within walking distance. Many landlords in our area do not require extended leases.
If you plan to visit campus, try to include some time for apartment hunting.
