State of Wisconsin Grants

Wisconsin Tuition Grant
The Wisconsin Tuition Grant (WTG) Program provides grant assistance to undergraduate, Wisconsin residents enrolled at least half-time in degree or certificate programs at non-profit, independent colleges or universities based in Wisconsin. Awards are based on financial need .

Wisconsin Talent Incentive Program
The Talent Incentive Program (TIP) is a State grant program designed to assist low income, disadvantaged students. The student must be a freshman to initially receive the grant. To continue to receive the TIP Grant, students must be enrolled consecutive terms and continue to show financial need. Funding for the TIP Grant is provided by both the State of Wisconsin and the Federal Government.

Federal Grants

Federal Pell Grant
A federal grant based on need as determined from information submitted on the FAFSA. Full time (at least 12 credits) and half time (at least 6 credits students may qualify.

Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
A grant based on need as determined by FAFSA results. This grant is awarded instead of, not in addition to, Northland Grant Aid, and is available to high need students only. FAFSA results must be received by April 15 to qualify.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
A grant program for full time undergraduate students enrolled in an eligible program who receive Federal Pell Grants. Students must have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study. Offered to freshman and sophomore students only.

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (National SMART Grant)
This grant is available during the third and fourth years of undergraduate study to full-time students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and who are majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, or engineering or in a foreign language determined critical to national security. The student must also be enrolled in the courses necessary to complete the degree program and to fulfill the requirements of the intended eligible major in addition to maintaining a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 in coursework required for the major.
