Timber Wolf Alliance moves to Discovery Center

Posted: 7/7/2008 3:12:20 PM

The Timber Wolf Alliance (TWA), formerly a program of the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute, is moving to the North Lakeland Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin.

The North Lakeland Discovery Center is a community-based environmental learning center dedicated to exploring, preserving, and enhancing the Lakeland area's natural, cultural, and historic resources. The Center’s classes, programs and events are delivered within the context that the better we understand our natural resources, the more likely we are to protect them.

“At a time when the status of the wolf is changing, the Discovery Center will help TWA refine its message and reach more people,” said Mark Leach, Director of SOEI. “This move will also allow SOEI staff to focus more energy on engaging students through environmental outreach.”

The decision to move TWA was shared by SOEI staff, the dedicated volunteers of the TWA Advisory Board and members of the staff at North Lakeland Discovery Center. Many of the programs organized by TWA will continue including tracking workshops, the printing of Wolf Awareness Week posters, a speakers’ bureau, and the wolf reward. Staff at the Center will provide support for the program and a search is currently underway to hire a new program coordinator.

During this time of transition the Weekend of Wolves Workshop registration will still be processed through the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute. Please send your registration to the address printed on the brochure.
