A popular service at Northland College is the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) located in the Ponzio Campus Center. This ATM accepts the following cards and ATM networks: Instant Cash, cirrus, Express Teller, Quantum, Fast Bank, Tyme, Advantage, Networks, Discover, MasterCard, Visa, and American Express: Express Card. Students may wish to get a card from their hometown financial institution before moving here, or cards will be available through the local Ashland banks. The ATM on campus is a cash dispenser only; however, other ATMs in Ashland provide additional services.

The City of Ashland has several banking institutions within a short distance from campus. Some students prefer to have a local checking or savings account for writing checks and for depositing their work-study checks.

First-year students typically don't need a lot of money for extra items. Their first work-study check comes out in the middle of October so a little money to start the semester is helpful. Keep in mind that many students pay cash or write checks for their books at the beginning of the semester. This means you need to consider the cost of books in your budget for the year. There are a few places on campus to cash a check, and The Snack Bar will cash checks for small amounts over the purchase price.
