Driving Directions

Northland College is located in the northern part of Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Superior. Our closest public airline service is located in Duluth, Minnesota. Duluth is 75 miles west of the Northland campus. The Duluth Airport is serviced by Northwest Airlines, which makes short trips between Duluth and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

If this is your first time attending Northland, the Admissions Staff will arrange for rides to campus from the Duluth Airport. Let Admissions know the day, time and place of your arrival. You should also let them know your flight number, and the last major city your flight will leave from.

As a service to returning students, the Student Development Office offers scheduled rides to and from the Duluth Airport for the beginning and end of school and for several break times.

We contract with a regional bus company to offer reliable and safe travel. Students can sign up several weeks before each ride. Each trip (one-way) costs $10, payable to Northland College. Please note, if no students have signed up for a certain ride, that ride will be cancelled.

We also encourage students and parents to make backup plans in case of a delayed or cancelled flight, if weather impedes travel, or any other problem crises. The Student Development Office provides information to students who may get stranded in Duluth, including places to stay and alternative travel. Learning how to travel is part of a well-rounded college experience!
