The Parsonage Fund

In honor of the retirement of Northland College President Robert Parsonage, this fund was established to provide current students with a wide variety of personal and professional development opportunities. Students use this fund to support special projects to enhance their education at Northland. Each student who applies to the fund writes a grant application proposal, which is reviewed by a committee of faculty and staff. Individual awards range from $25 to $1,500 per year. Previously funded projects have included:

  • Senior capstone on Lead Accumulation in Brown Pelicans
  • Participation in the American Meteorology Society National Conference
  • Habitat for Humanity projects in Mississippi and Hawaii
  • Presentation at the North American Association for Environmental Education
  • Walking the Pacific Crest Trail to raise funds for the Habitat Education Center
  • Senior Art Shows
  • Senior capstone on Germline Transmission
  • Participation in the Southeast Severe Storms Symposium
  • Attendance at the American Fisheries Society annual meeting
  • Senior capstones on Feral Cat Socialization
  • Biking the American Discovery Trail to raise funds for cancer research
  • Participation in the Natural Building and Sustainable Living in Thailand Project
  • Capstone research on Eastern and Western Monastic experiences
  • Attendance at the Midwest BLGTA College Conference
  • Funding to bring the State of Poverty Simulation Project to campus
  • Participation in the Sustainable Sweden workshop
