The purpose of the Northland College bookstore is to assist in the learning process. Recognizing the high price of course books, the bookstore offers a selection of used books. Northland College students and/or wholesale used book companies provide these used books to our bookstore.
The professors choose all required course books we sell and they often request paperback books to keep costs down. Like every college bookstore, our costs determine our prices. When a publisher sets no selling price, we add a standard minimum markup to our purchase cost to cover operation expenses. For other textbooks, the publishing companies pre-determine the price. They sell us the books at a set cost and establish the selling price for us to follow. Most college and university bookstores throughout the country follow the same pricing policies followed by the Northland College Bookstore.
An independent book company conducts a book buyback for the bookstore at the end of each semester during finals week. Books will receive fair market value, provided the book is a marketable title and in fair condition.
A main advantage of the campus store is being able to charge books to your Northland College student account or using a personal check, cash, or credit card. At the beginning of each semester, Northland College disperses easy to use vouchers for students who are eligible to charge their books. You can also order any book for which you may be searching. Just stop by and ask if you have any questions or requests.
