There's a lot of talk about how everyone should use safe computing practices to protect themselves from computer viruses, spam emails, and identity theft.
Do you know what these practices are? How do you keep your computer safe?
If you don't know the answer, you could be at risk. We, in the Northland College I.T. Department, recommend that a minimum set of system requirements be met to increase your protection from cyber threats.
You should regularly update your operating system for patches, virus definitions and security information, and any other program you have on your computer to insure the safest computing experience possible. Don't let those tools collect dust! Use them to regularly scan for the threats that they are designed to find. The following pages will introduce you to some of the threats you face by being online that you can use to protect your computer from these threats or clean them off after an infection. You can also use the navigation bar at the left to navigate.
