2007 marks the 3rd season in the head coaching career for Shelly Roiger. This past year, Coach Roiger held a clinic for 5th-8th graders as well as conducted two camps and presented at the 2006 Minnesota State High School Volleyball Coaches Association Fall Clinic.She grew up in central Minnesota and graduated from the College of St. Benedict in 1994, where she participated in basketball, cross country and track and field. Her coaching career began in Northfield, MN where she coached volleyball, basketball and softball for the majority of her ten years teaching at Northfield High School. During this time, Coach Roiger earned her Master's Degree in Education and Learning through St. Mary's University, MN. While still in Northfield, Coach Roiger made the jump to the collegiate level when she became an assistant volleyball coach at St. Olaf College in 2001 and 2002 and Carleton College in 2003. During her three years as assistant, Coach Roiger was part of coaching staffs that had a cumulative record of 65-27 (.707%), participated in the conference championship all three times, and qualified for the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament once.Besides working with volleyball, Coach Roiger is extending her involvement in the Northland Community beyond athletics by teaching a course within the math department each semester. She and her husband, Dan (who serves as the Head Women's Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Northland College) live just south of Ashland.
