Coach Roiger is beginning his fourth season as coach of the women's program. In his first three years, he has led the Jill's to the conference playoffs twice, including a 10-4 finish last season that saw the LumberJills finish in second place, just one game out of first. Coach Roiger was named the UMAC Coach of the Year in 2006-07 for the play of his team.

In just the first two recruiting classes, Coach Roiger has upgraded the Jill's roster in depth, size, and athleticism. He has recruited six players over six feet and five players who have been recognized as All-State, and the new recruits have averaged being named All-Conference three years.

Prior to Northland, Coach Roiger was an assistant basketball coach at Carleton College, first for three years with the men's program. In 2002, he began a two-year tenure with the Carleton women's program. In those two years, Carleton finished 49-7, won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference both seasons, won the conference tournament both years, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament each year. One of his top recruits during this time went on to become an All-American at Carleton.

Coach Roiger was raised in Wausau, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he graduated with a B.S. degree, and was recognized as one of the top five seniors in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He later received a Master's Degree from Madison and a B.A. Degree in Education from Mankato State University. Besides coaching, he is the Assistant Athletic Director at Northland. He lives in Ashland with his wife Shelly, who is the Volleyball Head Coach, and they have two children, Joey who is five, and Sam, who is three.
