Katie Zaban broke the Northland College hits record with a homerun in the LumberJills 21-4 romp in game one and the Jills completed the sweep over Presentation College with a 8-2 win in the nightcap.

Northland (14-13, 11-1 UMAC) left little doubt about the outcome in the first game as they exploded for 11 runs on six hits in the first inning.

Tiffany Datko walked to leadoff the inning and then Aurora Albrecht walked and Zaban walked to load the bases.  After a popout, a wild pitch advanced the runners and gave the Jills a 1-0 lead.  Becky Walters made it 3-0 after her two-run double plated Albrecht and Zaban.  The lead moved to 5-0 when Walters scored on another wild pitch and Stephanie Langfeldt crossed the plate on Alex Potter's run-scoring single.  Batting for the second time in the inning, Datko walked with the bases loaded and Albrecht singled to drive home Potter.  Amanda Seely, who walked, scored on the third wild pitch of the inning to push the lead to 8-0.  Walters capped the outburst with a three-run double to score Datko, Albrecht and Zaban, who walked for the second time in the inning.  Overall, the Jills sent 15 batters to the plate.

The LumberJills kept the foot on the gas as they plated seven more in the second on six hits.  Another wild pitch and a single by Albrecht plated two more runs.  RBI doubles by Seely and Datko stretched the lead to 13-0 to set the stage for Zaban.  After really not seeing anything to hit her first two times up, she broke the hit record previously held by current coach Tricia Darrington in grand fashion as she hit a two-run homer to left.  After a foulout, Walters also homered to give the LumberJills a resounding 18-0 lead after two innings.

In the third, Katie Johnson walked with the bases loaded and Margaret Koosmann's two-run single gave the Jills a 21-0 lead.  Presentation (1-13, 0-9 UMAC) scored two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings before the game was called due to the run limit after five innings.

Walters went 3-3 with two doubles and her homerun and drove in six runs.  Albrecht also had three hits to lead the 14-hit attack.  Seven of the nine starters each collected a hit in the game, with Zaban getting two.

In game two, Northland jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first on Karen Harnisch's sacrifice fly.

Datko's run-scoring single in the second made it 2-0.  An error by the Saints allowed two unearned runs score and another sacrifice fly, this one by Zaban pushed the lead to 5-0.

Presentation scored one in the third before Asia DeVlaeminck's two-run homer in the fifth made it 7-1.  The Saints scored another in the top of the sixth before Zaban's sacrifice fly capped the scoring the bottom half of the inning.

Langfeldt led the LumberJills offensively with two hits, while Zaban and DeVlaeminck each drove in two runs.

Northland is back in action tomorrow as they travel to Duluth, MN for the UMAC Crossover as they will face Crown College at 3:00 PM and Bethany Lutheran College at 5:00 PM.
