After dropping a pair to Judson College on Friday night, by the scores of 8-0 and 5-0, the Jill’s busted out the power vs. Alverno College on Sunday.

Judson

The Jills were no-hit in the first game that they dropped 8-0 – Brittany Schmitt took the loss for the Jill’s, in the second game the Jills still couldn’t manage to score a run managing just two hits and fell 5-0, Natalie Andersen pitched well for the Jills giving up only two earned runs on six hits while striking out five.

Alverno

In the first game, after falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Jill’s answered with four runs in the bottom of the second – Aurora Albrecht got the Jills on the board with an RBI single, then three batters later Katie Zaban drilled a two out bases loaded clearing double. Alverno picked up two runs in the top of the fifth to close within one run, but the Jill’s answered back in the bottom of the frame with two runs of their own when Zaban picked up her fourth & fifth RBI on a two run Home Run. Natalie Andersen picked up the win allowing 5 hits while striking out four.

In the second game, the Jill’s got on the board early, notching four runs in the top of the first – Highlighted by Bobi Jo Wolf’s two run home run, Alverno got one back in the bottom half of the inning scoring an unearned run. The score stayed at 4-1 until the top of the sixth when the Jills had a power outburst. Becky Walters led of the inning with a solo homerun – two batters later, following a single by Wolf, Alex Potter hit a two run shot. After two outs Mel Grego singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Tiff Datko. Zaban then hit a two run homer (a team record third in the inning) to cap off a six run sixth. Brittany Schmitt picked up the win, giving up just one unearned run on five hits and striking out 8.
