March 5

Box Score

The University of Dubuque was issued nine free passes and rallied three different times in a 7-4 win over Northland College on the third day of the Tucson Invitational in Tucson, AZ.

The LumberJills jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.  Tiffany Datko led of the game with a homerun.  Katie Zaben followed with a double and then scored on Karen Harnisch's run-scoring single.

A walk, double and a two-run single in the bottom of the first by the Spartans tied the game at 2-2.

The Jills grabbed the lead back in the second after Datko doubled home Alex Potter, who doubled earlier in the inning.  But like in the first inning, Dubuque tied the game after scoring on a Stephanie Langfeldt wild pitch.

In the fifth, Aurora Albrecht led off with a single.  After a flyout and a strikeout, Harnisch gave Northland (2-4) a 4-3 lead after her double plated Albrecht.

The Spartans came right back in the bottom half of the inning and got the lead-off batter on with a walk.  Two hits, two walks and an error later, the Jills faced a 6-4 deficit.  They added another unearned run in the sixth to grab a three-run lead.

Of the nine walks by Northland pitchers, four came around to score.  Datko and Harnisch each went 2-3 with two runs batted in.
