March 21Game 1 box scoreGame 2 box scoreSt. Olaf College's Katie Traux limited Northland College to just three hits and the Oles took advantage of six Jills' errors in a 7-2 win in game one and then outscored Northland 8-6 to complete the doubleheader sweep at the Irish Dome.The LumberJills took an early 1-0 lead in the first after Katie Zaban doubled home Tiffany Datko, who walked to leadoff the game.In the bottom of the second, three Jills' errors led to two unearned runs. Northland tied the game at 2-2 in the third. With one out,. Datko doubled, Aurora Albrecht singled and Zaban was then hit by a pitch. With the basses loaded, Becky Walters' grounder to short scored Datko.Two more errors in the bottom of the inning enabled the Oles to score another unearned run. St. Olaf blew the game open with a four run fourth. They had three hits in the inning but the lone Jill error accounted for all the runs to be unearned. In all, all seven St. Olaf runs in the game were unearned.Brittany Schmitt was the hard luck loser as she scattered ten hits and struck out two in six innings of work.The tables turned in the first inning of game two. With two outs, Katie Zaban reached on an error. After should of being out of the inning, Becky Walters took full advantage as she homered to give Northland a 2-0 lead. Tiffany Datko made it 3-0 after her leadoff homer in the third.St. Olaf quickly answered back in the bottom of the third. With one out, Ali Berens and Emily Hennig both homered with a walk sandwiched in to tie the game at 3-3. The Oles added another run to take a 4-3 lead.In the fifth, Aurora Albrecht reached on a fielder's choice and then advanced to second on a groundout. Walters then plated Albrecht with a run scoring single to tie the game at 4-4.St. Olaf took the lead for good with a run in the bottom of the fifth and added three big runs in the sixth.With one out in the seventh, Albrecht singled and Zaban was hit by a pitch. Walters then drove home her fourth run of the game with a RBI double to bring the LumberJills within 8-5. After a pitching change and a groundout, Asia DeVlaeminck's run-scoring single made it 8-6 with the tying run on first. Alex Potter grounded out to third to end the game.Walters went 3-4 with the four RBI's while Datko and Albrecht each went 2-4 to lead a ten-hit attack. The top four hitter went a combined 8-15, but the rest of the line-up went just 2-16.Northland is back in action next weekend in Sioux City, Iowa at the Morningside Tournament. They play Concordia University (NE) and Morningside College at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM on March 28th. The following day, they match up with Kansas Wesleyan College and Midland Lutheran College at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
