April 25-27Northland 12 vs. Presentation 1Northland 17 vs. Minnesota-Morris 4Northland 8 vs. Bethany Lutheran 2Martin Luther 6 vs. Northland 3On day one of the UMAC Crossover in the Irish Dome, Brittany Schmitt allowed just four hits and six Jills' had two or more hits as Northland College easily defeated Presentation College 12-1.The LumberJills jumped out to an early 3-0 lead as they rapped together three hits in the top of the first inning as Aurora Albrecht and Karen Harnisch each had run-scoring doubles and a RBI groundout by Schmitt put Northland on their way.Leading 3-1 in the third, Asia DeVlaeminck made it 5-1 with a two-run double and the Jills plated another run on Alex Potter's RBI single.Northland (18-14, 15-2 UMAC) added three more in the fourth on a Stephanie Langfeldt RBI double and run-scoring singles from Schmitt and DeVlaeminck. Maintaining the trend by scoring in threes, Northland made it 12-1 in the fifth as Albrecht tripled home a run, with Katie Zaban and Schmitt each adding RBI singles to cap the scoring.Albrecht led the 15-hit attack going 3-4 with three runs scored and two runs batted in. Zaban, Harnisch, Langfeldt, Schmitt and DeVlaeminck also added two hits apiece. On the mound, Schmitt gave up one run with one walk and struck out six for her seventh win of the year.More importantly, the win kept the Jills tied atop the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with Northwestern College in the final week of the regular season.After a day off, the Jills were back in the Irish Dome on Sunday for a triple header. In game one, Northland College beat the University of Minnesota-Morris 17-4. The LumberJills tallied thirteen hits and seventeen runs batted in while Brittany Schmitt earned her eighth victory on the mound.Northland (19-14, 16-2 UMAC) jumped out to an 11-0 lead. The Morris pitchers couldn't locate pitches as they walked in five runs in the first. Langfeldt, Schmitt, Seely, and Theresa Pufall each had RBI singles.The Jills scored again in the third on another RBI single for Schmidt and an RBI double for Amanda Seely. Harnisch hit her fifth homerun of the season, a three run shot, in the fourth. The Jills rounded out the scoring in the fifth on a RBI double for Datko. Datko, Schmidt, Harnisch, Pufall, and Seely each collected two hits in the contest.In game two, Schmidt earned her ninth victory as she struck out ten and walked none in an 8-2 win over Bethany Lutheran.The Vikings struck first when they scored two unearned runs on two hits and two LumberJill errors before Schmidt struckout the side.Northland (20-14, 17-2 UMAC) answered right back for four runs in the first. After a leadoff groundout, Albrecht doubled to left field and scored on Langfeldt's sacrifice fly to right. Alex Potter put the Jills ahead for good with a three run homer to center field.The Jills added one in the second and fourth innings and two in the fifth to round out the scoring. Potter finished the game 2-2 with a double, a homerun and four runs batted in. Datko also added a homerun.In game three, Northland committed three errors and Steph Langfedt gave up five runs in a loss to Martin Luther 6-3.Martin Luther put a double and a single together to score the first run of the game. The Knights then scored three in the third on four hits and an error to take a 4-0 lead. They added another unearned run in the top of the fourth and rounded their scoring out in the top of the seventh to push their lead to 6-0.The LumberJills got on the board in the bottom of the seventh after they had stranded five runners on base, two of which were in scoring position. DeVlaeminck, Seely, and Margaret Koosman each singled to start off the seventh before Harnisch plated a couple with a pinch hit single. Datko singled to reload the bases. Albrecht picked up a RBI on a walk to end the Jill's rally at three runs.Northland (20-15, 17-3 UMAC) moved into second place in the conference with the loss.
