Jills Swept by Pointers

The Jills dropped two to Stevens Point this weekend, losing 5-1 in the opener and 12-1 in the nightcap.

Game 1 Box Score

In game one at Stevens Point,  the Pointers jumped out to a 3-0 lead bottom of the second, but Northland was able to keep them quiet until they could get on the board in the fourth inning. Katie Zaban (Frankfort, IL) started the Jills off with a double, advancing to third on Becky Walters' (Porterfield, WI) single.  Following a fly out, Zaban scored on a wild pitch.  Stevens Point stole back any momentum the the Jills received from Zaban's run, by scoring two of their own in the bottom of the fourth.  Neither team would score after that, leaving the score 5-1 in the Pointers' favor.
Hope Krause got the win for the Pointers, striking out 11 batters and allowing five hits.
Brittany Schmitt (Abbotsford, WI) threw six innings of nine hit ball for the Jills.  She allowed five runs, two earned, while striking out eight and walking none.

Game 2 Box Score

Game two started with both teams trading single runs.  The Pointers were the first to get on the board in the bottom of the first, but Northland followed it up by one of their own.  Alex Potter (Nevis, MN) got the Jills going with a double, advancing to third on a wild pitch.  Theresa Pufall (Ashland, WI) reached on an error by first base and Potter scored.  However, the Pointers had an answer to bring the score to 2-1 in the bottom of the second, and the Jills couldn't get a hit.  The Pointers then followed with a three run and a five run inning to put the game away. 
Stephanie Andersen got the win for the Pointers, coming in relief of Allison Dorn, allowing no hits and no runs, while striking out eight batters.
Natalie Andersen (Appleton, WI) threw all four innings for the Jills, allowing 10 hits and 12 runs, nine earned.  She walked six batters, and struck out two.
