Stephanie Langfeldt tossed a complete game six-hitter and struck out eight as the Jills held on for a 3-2 win in game two.Harnisch led off the second inning with her second homer of the year to give the LumberJills a 1-0 lead. After being held in check by Brittany Schmitt through the first four innings, the Eagles erupted for four runs on four hits in the fifth inning to grab a 4-1 lead.In the bottom of the sixth, Katie Zaban singled with one out. After two wild pitches and a foul out, Harnisch stepped up to the plate and homered just over the left field fence to bring Northland within 4-3.Alex Potter led off the bottom of the seventh inning for the Jills with a double. Shauna Ruud pinch ran and advanced to third on a groundout and would score the tying run on an error by Northwestern shortstop Jenny Kortus.The exhilaration was short lived as the Eagles scored the game-winner as Slagter single handedly won it for Northwestern. She started the inning with a single and then stole second. She moved to third on a groundout to second base and surprised everyone at LumberJill Field when she broke for home on the throw back to the pitcher and slid safely under the tag to win it.In game two, Northland opened up a 3-0 lead in the second inning on an Asia DeVlaeminck run-scoring single and a two-run double by Alex Potter. That turned out to be just enough for Stephanie Langfeldt as she was in complete control, except for a stumble in the sixth, throughout the game. Through five innings, she limited the Eagles to just three hits, but Northwestern finally broke through with two runs on three hits in the sixth to pull within 3-2.The Eagles got a double with one out in the seventh and had the tying run at third, but Langfeldt struck out Alyssa Borgstrom to end it.Northland faces conference rival College of St. Scholastica in a doubleheader tomorrow at 3:00 PM at LumberJill Field.
