Karen Harnsich went a combined 5-6 with a homerun and six runs batted in as Northland College took a pair over conference foe College of St. Scholastica 3-1 and 11-5 this afternoon at LumberJill Field.

In game one, both teams struggled to hit the ball on a chilly afternoon as there were just five hits in the game.  The Jills collected two of their three in the third inning off hard luck loser Kayla Jenkins.  With one out, Tiffany Datko singled and stole second.  After a groundout, Katie Zaban walked to bring up Harnisch.  She belted two homeruns in yesterday's split with Northwestern and added her third in third games as her blast over the centerfield fence gave the LumberJills a 3-0 lead.

That would be more than enough run support for Brittany Schmitt as she shut down the Saints.  She allowed just the two hits, walked three and struck out four for her twelfth complete game of the season.

Game two was the complete opposite as the two teams combined to wrap out 25 hits.  Harnisch had a run-scoring single while Stephanie Langfeldt had a RBI double to give the Jills an early 2-0 lead.  They added a third run in the first inning as Becky Walters scored on a wild pitch.

St. Scholastica (5-18, 4-4 UMAC) scored two in the top of the third, but Northland answered back with three more in the bottom half.  Harnisch's RBI double started the scoring and a bases loaded walk to Asia DeVlaeminck gave the LumberJills a 5-2 lead.  They scored their third run on a fielder's choice by Amanda Seely.

The Saints got the runs right back with a three spot of their own in the fourth.  Northland broke open the game when they scored four runs on five hits.  The inning was highlighted by Datko's two-run single, a Zaban sacrifice fly and another RBI double from Harnisch.

The Jills' 15-hit assault was led by Harnisch's 4-4 day.  Datko went 3-4, while Walters and Langfeldt each added two hits apiece.  Overall, eight of the nine starters collected at least one hit.

Northland (10-13, 7-1 UMAC) will play its third consecutive doubleheader as they host Presentation College at 3:00 PM.
