The Northland LumberJills competed at the NCAA Midwest Region Meet Saturday, November 10th hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Freshman Amanda Strick continued her strong season by leading the Jills with a personal best time of 24:46, taking 1:40 off of her previous best time of 26:25 from the conference meet two weeks ago. Running with Strick up to the very end was Senior Melissa McNell who posted a season best time of 24:47, also taking 1:40 off her previous best time from the conference meet. "Melissa's experience has been extremely valuable to this young team," states Head Coach Dave Beeksma. "She taught these young runners how to race with mental toughness and intelligence." Placing third for the Jills was Sophomore Jessica Swierczynski (28:18). The fourth and fifth spots where claimed by Freshman Cassie Bodette (29:12) and First time runner Katie Musick (30:30). First time runners Laura Ehlen (30:35) and Samantha Schnied (38:38) complete the team results for Northland. "The women all ran the best times of the season by up to two minutes," comments Coach Beeksma. "That is impressive improvement and will set the tone for off-season training as we continue to build the Cross Country program here at Northland."Washington University won the team title with 41 points while Becca Jordahl won the individual title with a time of 21:06.
