LumberJills Compete at Roy Griak Invitational

 

The LumberJills competed in the 2007 Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota this past weekend. Northland was led by freshman Amanda Strick, who completed the 6K course in a time of 27:43. She was followed by senior Melissa McNell (27:51), freshmen Ashley Stefaniw (29:28) and Cassie Bodette (31:19) while sophomore Jessica Swierczynski (31:25) completed Northland’s scoring. First-time runners Laura Ehlen (32:06) and Katie Musick (32:46) rounded out the Jill's top seven with freshman Samantha Adams (33:14) and first-time runner Samantha Schneid (39:11) also competing in the race. “All of our runners ran season best times at a very difficult course,” stated coach Dave Beeksma. “ I am very proud of how they performed.”

The race was won by Becca Jordahl of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in a time of 22:01. Washington University took the women’s Division III crown with a score of 89. The next competition date for the Jill's is the October 13th Northland Invitational at the Valhalla Recreation area. The women run at 12:00 PM.
