Jack's Suffer Weekend Sweep

February 9

Box Score 2/8
Box Score 2/9

Northland College drop their eighth and ninth straight games against Lawrence University this weekend at the Bay Area Civic Center, losing 6-3 Friday evening and 5-0 on Saturday.

In the first game the LumberJacks kept it close until a late empty net goal by Lawrence's Marc Howe ended any threat to put the Vikings up 6-3.  Northland's Zach Kozak (Mesa, AZ) and Tony Huberty (Hermantown, MN) each connected one another for goals in the first and second periods.  The LumberJacks came within 4-3 when Joe Belanger (Ashland, WI) found the net early in the third period on backhand shot that beat Lawrence's goaltender glove side, but it wasn't enough as Lawrence put up two more unanswered goals for some added insurance.

The Jack's were holding strong until Lawrence put up two late first period goals to lead the way for a 5-0 victory as they outshot Northland 56-9.

With the to losses the LumberJacks drop to 3-20 overall, and 3-15 in the MCHA.  Lawrence would move to 9-11-3 overall and 9-8-1 in the MCHA.

Up next the Jack's travel to Crookston for their last regular season series.  Game time Friday is a 7:30 PM, and 4:00 PM on Saturday.
