Finlandia offensive in win over Northland

Finlandia University scored in the opening minutes and kept the foot on the gas as they exploded offensively in a 10-1 win over visiting Northland College tonight at the Houghton County Arena.

Travis Hanson's goal just 1:23 into the game started a three goal outburst in the opening period.  The Lions added two more in the second and five in the third.  Joe Beaudry had five points including a hat trick while Mike Parks added two goals and two assists.  Although Finlandia had only 28 shots on goal, they made them count and limited the LumberJacks to just five for the game.  Nick Matson (Hanover, MN) scored Northland's lone goal on assists from Jeff Diehl (Dacula, GA) and Jiri Zeman (Roznov, CZ).

With the win, the Lions moved to 11-7-2 overall and 10-5 in the MIdwest Collegiate Hockey Association.  The Jack's fell to 3-17 and 3-12 in the MCHA.

The two teams will play again tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM at the Houghton County Arena.
