Sophomore Bryce Henry and Freshman Ben Blair once again reprised their roles as the leaders of the men’s Cross Country team this past Saturday by placing 15th and 19th respectively at the UMAC championships hosted by St. Scholastica. The race course was very flat but extremely soggy. It was like running on a sponge with all of the rain the area received over the past few weeks. Henry’s time of 30:09 was just 14 seconds off of his best this year while almost every other team ran about a minute slower than their previous best. Blair followed Henry with a time of 30:38 with first time runner Max Metz running a personal best of 31:07 taking third on the team. Metz’s time was almost a full minute faster than his previous best time, a very impressive feat considering the race conditions. Sophomore Chris Goscinak (32:01) and first time runner Chris Dunham (33:09) completed the scoring for Northland who placed 5th out of 7 teams. Junior David Lardinois (33:24), Sophomore Marty Schoofs (33:49), Sophomore Allen Dalke (36:13), Freshman Kevin Robertson (38:45) and Freshman Nathan Leurquin (40:30) also competed for the Jacks.
Northwestern College won the men’s team title while Senior Chris Rubesch took the individual men’s title in a time of 27:57. The LumberJacks finish their season in two weeks at the NCAA Midwest Region meet hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday, November 10th.
