Box Score

Tyler Teadt had a no-hitter through five innings and settled for a two-hitter as Northland College beat Martin Luther College 5-0 on a brisk and damp afternoon at LumberJack Field.

With their fourth win in a row, the LumberJacks improved to 8-12 overall and 6-5 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.  The Knights dropped to 12-13 and 8-9 in the UMAC.  More importantly, the Jacks moved into third place in the conference standings.

Bryce Szymanski doubled to start the third inning and then advanced to third on a Mike Stevens single to left.  A wild pitch allowed Szymanski to score and move Stevens to second.  After a groundout, Cody Carroll plated Stevens with a ringing double to the leftcenter field gap to give Northland a 2-0 lead.

In the fourth, Casey Frantz was hit by a pitch with two outs.  After Frantz stole second and a walk to Szymanski, Stevens gave the Jacks a 3-0 lead with a single up the middle.

Northland added another run in the fifth as Carroll leadoff the inning with a single to center and then stole second.  A Chris Steiner single through the right side scored Carroll to push the lead to 4-0.

Frantz singled to shortstop to begin the sixth and stole second.  Szymanski's deep flyout to center advanced Frantz to third and a muffed throw enabled him to score.

Teadt allowed just one runner to reach third as he picked up his second win of the year.  He walked two and struck out eight.

Stevens and Carroll each had two hits and a run batted in.  The LumberJacks were busy on the base paths as well as they stole eight bases without getting caught.

The two teams tried to play a doubleheader, but the second game was postponed due to rain.  A doubleheader is scheduled for 12:00 PM tomorrow at LumberJack Field.
