Northland College clinched the third seed in tomorrow's conference tournament as they defeated Presentation College 7-2 tonight at LumberJack Field.

The Jacks jumped on Saints' starter Andy Bauer in the first as Matt Tanneberg singled with two outs and then scored on Cody Carroll's sixth homer of the season to straight away center.

Presentation got one back in the third off of Tyler Teadt.  The LumberJacks scored four runs on three hits in the fourth.  Carroll singled and stole second to start the inning.  After a strikeout, Michael Cross reached base on an error, with Carroll advancing to third.  Chuck Breitenfeldt then doubled off the rightfield fence to plate both runners and give the Jacks a 4-1 lead.  Chad Moore followed with a walk and then Casey Frantz singled home Breitenfeldt.  Moore moved to third on the throw to home and scored on Mike Stevens' groundout.

Northland manufactured their final run in the fifth.  Tanneberg leadoff with a single through the right side and then moved to second as Chris Steiner was hit by a pitch.  Tanneberg tagged up to third base on a foul ball down the right field line.  Steiner attempted to steal second and as the throw went throw, Tanneberg scored without a throw before Steiner was tagged out.

Tanneberg and Carroll each had two hits while Carroll and Breitenfeldt had two runs batted in apiece.  Teadt threw six solid innings as he allowed five hits and one run.  He only struck out one, but did not walk a batter.

Up next for the LumberJacks is a date with second seeded Bethany Lutheran College at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference tournament.  Game time is 10:00 AM tomorrow at Wade Stadium in Duluth, MN.  If the Jacks win, they will play the College of St. Scholastica/Martin Luther College winner at 7:00 PM.  If they lose, they will play the loser out game at 4:00 PM.
