Box Score

Northland College, playing their 12th game in 11 days, fell to second-seeded Bethany Lutheran College 18-2 in an elimination game at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament this afternoon at Wade Stadium in Duluth, MN.

The Vikings move to the championship game where they will face top-seeded and #21 College of St. Scholastica (31-4).  Bethany Lutheran (22-13) will have to beat the Saints twice in order to capture the conference championship.  With the loss, the Jacks finished the season 12-15 and placed third in the UMAC Tournament for the second straight year.

The VIkings jumped on Jacks' starter Michael Cross for three runs on four hits in the top of the first.  In the bottom half of the inning with one out, Bryce Szymanski doubled and Matt Tanneberg walked.  Cody Carroll made it 3-1 with a single to left.

Bethany Lutheran stormed back with five more runs in the second on four hits to take a commanding 8-1 lead.  Northland scored a run in the third as Chris Steiner's groundout plated Szymanski, who had walked.  After collecting four hits in the first three innings, the Jacks could muster only two more the rest of the way off Bethany's Alex Smith.

Carroll went 3-4 on the day with an RBI and was the only Northland representative named to the All-Tournament Team as he went 7-14 with four runs batted in the three games.
