It was an up and down day for the Jacks on Saturday as they split the remaining two games with Presentation, winning 8-2 in the first game and losing 4-1 in the second.

The Jacks were faced with a 1-0 deficit early in the first game until the bottom of the second inning, when they started scoring at will.  First putting five runs on the board, and, later, in the bottom of the third, adding two more to bring the score to 7-2. From that point on, Northland took control of the contest, keeping the Saints to just two runs on three hits. The Jacks would add another in the bottom of the sixth, where they would end up with an 8-2 victory. Senior Joey Norton, Louisville, KY, added another complete game victory for the Jacks, allowing only three hits in the contest. The Jacks offense, however, was the highlight of the first game for the squad, as eight different Northland hitters scattered 10 hits and 8 runs throughout the contest. Leading hitters for the day included Senior Travis Wederstrandt, French Settlement, LA, and Sophomore Ryan Riley, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, who went 2 for 3 and 2 for 4 respectively for the Jacks.

The second game offered a bit of a different performance from the two teams.

Northland scored quickly in the bottom of the first, and Presentation would add another in the top of the second to bring the score to a 1-1 tie at the end of two. The game would then remain close throughout the remainder of the competition, with both pitchers working well through the innings. Then, later on, in the top of the eighth inning, the Saints bats caught on fire, scoring three runs, establishing a lead they would keep until the end. Northland only managed to score one run on three hits in the second game, and added to their problems by committing five errors throughout the contest. Freshman Justin Kirby, Cornell, MI, although having pitched well through five, took the loss in the game. Senior Travis Wederstrandt, Senior Corey Boe and Freshman Jason Jarrell were the only Northland players to create hits in the second game.

Northland, now 20-18-1, will travel to Hancock, MI, where they will face Finlandia University in their final regular season game of the year.
