It was a tough day today for the Lumberjacks as they dropped two to UW-Stout, 11-4 and 7-1.

The first game of the doubleheader featured a close battle between the two squads. Both starting pitchers showed good command and control until the top of the fifth, at which point UW-Stout caught fire, hitting everything in sight, and, in close, scoring six quick runs to give them an advantage they would never give up. Senior Corey Boe, who played second base for the Jacks, led the team with two hits and two runs scored, along with a solid defensive performance.

The second game of the doubleheader proved to be a bit different. UW-Stout quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first, added another in the second, and would, in the end, put seven runs on the board off a variety of pitchers from the Northland staff. Northland, on the other hand, despite some hard hit balls, only managed to score one run on six hits. Again, it was Senior Corey Boe who brought in the sole run for the Jacks, but, in this game, it was Freshman Jason Jarrell, playing right field for the Jacks, who led the team by going 2 for 3 with the only RBI the team managed to produce.

Northland, now 18-17-1, will host Presentation College for a three game series over the weekend at Lumberjack Field. Northland swept Presentation last year in Aberdeen, soundly beating them in every game, and scoring a total of 40 runs over the series compared to 8 from Presentation.
