Box Score The University of Minnesota-Morris rallied for four runs in the ninth inning to shock Northland 9-8 at LumberJack Field.After the Cougars clawed back with a three-run sixth to tie the game at 4-4, the Jack's scored four times in the seventh to take a 8-4 lead. UM-Morris added one in the eighth off starter Brad Schoenman (Longmont, CO), then the outburst in the ninth off Chris Panabaker (Wiggins, CO).With the win, the Cougars improved to 7-18 overall and 6-10 in the UMAC. The LumberJacks dropped to 6-20 and 5-11 in conference play.UM-Morris took an early 1-0 lead in the first, but Northland scored three runs on three hits in the bottom half. Casey Frantz (Charlotte, MI) led-off with a walk and advanced to third on Mike Stevens (Cadillac, MI) double. Matt Tanneberg's (Kennewick ,WA) single to right scored Frantz to tie the game at 1-1. Cody Carroll (Shawano, WI) followed with another run-scoring single to plate Stevens and give the Jack's the lead at 2-1. The Jack's third run came when Carroll scored on a fielder's choice by Andy Finco (Hibbing, MN).In the fourth, Bryce Szymanski (Pequot Lakes, MN) started a two-out rally with a double to right. He made it 4-1 when he scored on Frantz's single up the middle.After the Cougars tied the game with their three-run sixth inning, the LumberJack's scored four runs on three hits in the seventh. The frame started just like the first as Frantz walked and Stevens doubled to start the inning. After Tanneberg grounded out to the pitcher, Carroll delivered a two-run single to right to plate Frantz and Stevens. Panabaker's groundball through the left side of the infield scored Cross, who reached on a fielder's choice to make the score 7-4. After Panabaker stole second, he scored all the way from second after Cougar second baseman threw the ball away after they had Panabaker picked off between second and third.UM-Morris's rally in the ninth started as Greg Roth singled to center. A walk and a balk put runners at second and third with no one out. After a flyout, Pope scored Roth with an RBI single. Another walk loaded the bases and a wild pitch from Panabaker scored Dan Folie and closed the gap to 8-7. Tyler Tollefson's sacrifice fly to left tied the game, but not for long. Lead-off hitter Eric Smolensky hit a grounder that just got by Tanneberg at third to score Matt Throngard and give the Cougars a 9-8 lead.Frantz and Carroll each had three hits for the Jack's. Carroll also had three runs batted in. Stevens and Szymanski added two hits as Northland pounded out 13 hits, but stranded eight runners.
