Bryce Szymanski gave the Jacks an immediate 1-0 lead as he homered to right to leadoff the game. The Eagles came back in the bottom of the first as Lee Nelson hit a two-run homer to center off starter Will Opdyk.Northwestern (11-22, 8-9 UMAC) scored two more in the third on a RBI groundout and a sacrifice fly.Northland (8-13, 6-6 UMAC) couldn't muster much off Andrew Stokes as he limited the LumberJacks to just four hits in seven innings while striking out nine.Szymanksi went 3-3 while Breitenfeldt managed the only other hit. In the loss, Opdyk allowed four runs on seven hits, with one walk and five strikeouts.The Jacks scored in the first inning in game two as Carroll's two-run double plated Szymanski and Matt Tanneberg, who singled and walked.
Chris Steiner eludes a Northwesternrunner to turn a double play
The Eagles cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the third off Szymanski. In the fourth, the first batters in Tanneberg, Carroll and Chris Steiner reached base. After a strikeout, Breitenfeldt laced one over the leftcenter field wall to give the LumberJacks a commanding 6-1 lead.Northwestern (11-23, 8-10 UMAC) battled back in the bottom half of the inning as they scored four runs as well, including three with two outs.Carroll gave Northland (9-13, 7-6 UMAC) a 7-5 lead in the fifth as his sharp single to rightcenter drove home Mike Stevens, who reached base on an error. The Jacks added another run in the sixth as Tanneberg, who walked and stole second, scored on Steiner's basehit to right.

Carroll and Steiner each had two hits, with Carroll and Breitenfeldt driving in seven of the eight runs. Szymanski went six innings, allowing five runs on nine hits. He walked one and struck out five. Tyler Teadt pitched a perfect seventh to pick up the save.The Jacks will have an interesting day tomorrow in that they will play a tripleheader. Two games will be against Crown College starting at 1:00 PM in Minnetonka, MN with a third game against Martin Luther College scheduled to begin around 7:00 PM. The Knights play Northwestern earlier in the day and will have to drive up to play the LumberJacks.
