Northland Hires Athletic Trainer

Athletic Director Steve Wammer announced today that Melanie Schulte has accepted an offer to be Northland College's Head Athletic Trainer.  Schulte will begin her duties this coming weekend as Northland volleyball begins on Saturday and soccer and cross country on Sunday.

Schulte comes in with a M.A. in Athletic Training from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  Prior to that, she received a B.S. from the College of St. Catherine's in St. Paul, Minnesota where she also competed as a student-athlete on the women's hockey team.  For the past two years, Schulte has been an assistant athletic trainer for Southwest Minnesota State University, specifically workng for the Women's Soccer and Baseball.

Schulte, who is originally from Omaha, will be residing in Ashland in the near future.  Assistant Athletic Director Dan Roiger had this to say about her, "Melanie is a very qualified certified athletic trainer and comes to us with a lot of experience and high recommendations.  We feel very fortunate getting her on our staff and believe our athletes will be in very capable hands.She also loves the small, private school atmosphere and is very excited to be coming to Northland, she is a great fit for our campus."
