Scott Mayforth arrived at Northland College in the fall of 1983 as a student to play for the LumberJacks. He went on to be a four-year letter winner and helped lead the team to three National Tournament appearances. In 1984, he was named to the National tournament’s All-Tournament team as a sophomore. In his finial season as a LumberJack, he was named to the NSCAA All-American 1st Team as well as the NAIA 1st Team All-Region and Team MVP. Coach Mayforth started his coaching career at Northland in 1989 and led the LumberJacks to their one and only National Championship in 1991. He then went on to become the first assistant at West Virginia Wesleyan where he helped lead the Bobcats to the NAIA Final four and the school’s only undefeated season. In 1994, he returned to Northland to become the head coach once again and has led the men’s program to nine Upper Midwest Athletic Conference final four appearances and two conference championships. In 1997, he started the women’s soccer program at Northland and has remained the head coach of both programs for the last 11 years. In 2000, coach Mayforth became the first varsity soccer player too be inducted into the Northland College Athletic Hall of Fame.
