"I hope students leave my classroom with a deeper understanding of the world around them."
Rick DowdProfessor of Chemistry
Your first chemistry class at Northland will encourage you to understand powerful analytical methods often used in real life to investigate regional environmental issues such as acid rain and toxic waste contamination. As you continue through the program, you might become part of a team that conducts an environmental impact analysis on the Lake Superior shoreline or studies water quality in the Lake Superior watershed. As a Northland College chemistry student, you'll use a hands-on laboratory and garner research experience that will help prepare you for medical, veterinary, dental, or graduate school or for employment in public or private sector research labs.
