Students' relationships with faculty members are among the most important experiences in their college education. In recognition of this, each new student is assigned an academic advisor. Advising is an ongoing process of clarification and evaluation of students' academic plans and goals. Academic advisors help identify and assess options so that students can make informed decisions about their academic and postgraduate and/or career goals. New, first-year students are also assigned a student advisor, who is a partner to the academic advisor, and who gives advisees the student perspective on academic planning and college life. All students are responsible for being familiar with the academic information in this catalog and for adhering to the College's academic requirements.
