Admission Requirements

Students seeking to enter Northland College’s BSN Program must:

  1. Be a registered nurse with a current license to practice in Wisconsin.
  2. Have an associate degree in nursing or a diploma from a three-year nursing program. Degrees must be from an accredited nursing program.
  3. At least one year of nursing experience is recommended. Exceptions will be evaluated on an individual basis
  4. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.

Application for Admission

  1. Students applying for admission to Northland College’s BSN Completion program must:
  2. Submit an application for admission
  3. Submit official transcripts for all previous course work from any college, university, or technical college. Official transcripts must be sent directly to the college.

Liberal Education Requirements

  • English 111 College Writing (3 credits)
  • Personal Wellness and Lifetime Sports (2 one-credit classes geared towards lifelong health and fitness)
  • 3 humanities courses (9 credits)
  • o fine arts, literature, history
  • 2 natural science classes (6 credits)
  • o chemistry, geoscience, physics, meteorology
  • 1 course that meets the cultural and human diversity requirement
  • 1 course that meets the environmental perspectives requirement

Other liberal education requirements are fulfilled by completing the 36 credits in the nursing curriculum.

Northland offers evening classes to fulfill the liberal education requirements. In addition, students may earn credit through CLEP (College Level Examination Program) exams.

Students should discuss the liberal education requirements with their advisor as soon as possible.
