Distance Learning

Distance learning opportunities at Northland are coordinated by the Office of Academic Affairs and offered through two networks of which the College is a member. A higher education-only network, the Wisconsin Independent Colleges and Universities Network serves Northland College, Alverno College, Cardinal Stritch University, Edgewood College, Marian College, and Silver Lake College. Northland is also a member of a regional distance learning network, the Northern Wisconsin Educational Communications System, which includes several higher education partners as well as K-12 schools throughout northwestern Wisconsin.

Northland's Distance Learning Classroom is outfitted with live two-way audio/video videoconferencing technology that provides students with the opportunity to take courses not typically offered on our campus. Since the classroom's installation in 1998, courses from other sites have included Chinese Language and Culture, Feature and Magazine Writing, French, German, Mass Communications, Public Administration, International Terrorism, and Politics of the Middle East. Outgoing courses have included topics in environmental studies, history, and Native American studies.

Interested students may enroll in Distance Learning offerings during regular course registration periods. As with all courses offered at Northland, credits and prerequisites vary from class to class. For more information, contact the Office of Academic Affairs at (715) 682-1226.
