Member of the Board of Trustees since 1999. Don R. Larson is the retired President of Larson Publications. Don and his wife and business partner, Carole, founded an area community weekly newspaper, the Crow River News, and revitalized the Minnesota Sun newspapers through their business, Larson Publications.

Don enrolled at Northland in 1953 and studied science and conservation. He later completed his degree in economics at the University of Minnesota, and then enrolled in a graduate program in journalism. In 1963 founded the Crow River News with a $500 investment, and built that $500 investment into a $4 million publishing business. Don and Carole Larson were honored as Alumni for their work in journalism by the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota.

 

Don was an active member of the Alumni Board from 1993 to 1999. He chairs the Marketing Sub-Committee of the Enrollment & Marketing Committee, and serves on the Business Affairs, Academic Affairs and Investment committees.
