Member of the Board of Trustees since 2000. Jim Musso is Manager, Siting & Land Rights at Xcel Energy in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He is responsible for electric transmission, distribution, substation and natural gas facility siting, licensing, permitting, and land rights acquisition for Xcel’s five state northern region: Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, and Michigan. Jim's environmental studies undergraduate degree from Northland has been of direct relevance to his professional career in environmental compliance and regulatory affairs in the energy industry. In his 32 years with Xcel and its predecessor companies, Jim has been directly involved in the evaluation and implementation of alternative and renewable energy sources on Xcel's system.

Jim was a member of the Northland College Alumni Board prior to joining the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute Advisory Board in 1991. He took over responsibilities of Chair of the SOEI Advisory Board in 2000, and became an ex officio Northland trustee at that time. In 2005, Jim retired from the SOEI Advisory Board and was elected as a Northland College trustee.

On the Northland Board, Jim chairs the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute Committee, and is a member of Academic Affairs, Advancement, and Executive Committees.
